History
Haitian Association for Diabetes and Cardiovascular Diseases, Inc. (HADICAD) was founded for the purpose of addressing the growing epidemic of non-communicable diseases (NCD) in one of the poorest countries in the world. Haiti is highly affected by some of the greatest silent deadly enemies of health namely, diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol, and obesity. Unfortunately, most people in Haiti are not financially able to pay for monthly health insurance. Consequently, they cannot afford the cost of medical treatment for these diseases. Furthermore, due to the low literacy rate, they don't understand the impact on their health so they don't know how to face these illnesses.
Dr. Nancy Charles Larco founded HADICAD in 2013, hoping to tackle these known issues that have been dramatically affecting the lives of thousands of Haitian citizens. HADICAD will provide in collaboration with other international organizations immediate assistance to those with these non-communicable diseases, primarily focused on diabetes and cardiovascular diseases.
